At our meetings we often feature speakers who discuss their recent expeditions, some aspects of yachting, navigation, meteorology, or a related topic. Meetings are held on the second Monday of every even month from 1930 hours at Victoria Cruising Club in Westhaven Marina, under the harbour bridge in Auckland. For more details see Our meetings allow convivial discussion with other members to solve problems, and even to find opportunities for crewing. Excursions are arranged to places of interest including, in the past, the Navy Hydrographic vessel MONOWAI, The SAR Orions at Whenuapai, the Auckland Observatory and the Maritime Museum.
CANANZ also organises two cruises each year - the Summer cruise in Feb or March, and the Kowhai cruise, usually in September.
Our library contains 300 books as well as specialist magazines, audio and video tapes, and DVDs. It is kept at Victoria Cruising Club and open during meetings. The Association actively promotes or opposes legislation and other measures that affect our members; seeks to redress wrongs suffered by our members, and lobbies the relevant authority on matters the Association believe require attention. |
